Red Pine

FPD offers red pine from Germany in a variety of grades including A, AB, and B. This species comes in a variety of dimensions with the most common being 32/36/37/40/42/47mm x 120mm and wider x 3m and longer. All of the red pine we sell is kiln dried and either rough surfaced or S4S.

A
Knots: 4 sound knots per side or 2 per edge
Shakes: 15% maximum
Wane: 30% maximum

AB
Mixture of Grade A and B

B
Knots: 5 sound knots per side or 3 per edge
Shakes: 25% maximum
Wane: 40% maximum

Red Pine Uses

Red pine (also known as red wood) is a strong species that has a variety of construction and industrial uses. This species has a wide range of applications including construction lumber, utility poles, posts, railroad ties, and paper. This species is sourced by FPD from Germany. This species has a light reddish brown heartwood and pale yellow to nearly white sapwood. Red pine can be worked well with both hand and machine tools.
